Go out.
Look closer.

A field journal for the things
you almost walked past.

Take a closer look
An imagined valley, grass and distant mountain ridges

Leave the
route open.

You do not need a summit to find something worth keeping. A bend in the grass. A line against the sky. A sound that makes you stop.

The view
has layers.

Three things to notice.

A horizon

Follow the edge where one shape meets another. Describe it without naming the place.

A texture

Find the smallest repeating mark. Grass, bark or stone can change the scale of a view.

A sound

Wait for a quiet moment. Write the first sound that stays with you.

The imagined valley seen as a single collected frame
A place to look, rather than a route to follow.

A quieter kind
of collection.

Keep a sentence, not a score. This page is for your own observations; the landscape is an imagined scene.

Can I use this as a route guide?

This is an observation journal. It does not provide navigation, terrain conditions or outdoor safety guidance.

Where do my notes go?

They stay in the current page. Download a text file to keep them; they are not uploaded or saved in your browser.
