A tall sunlit cloud against an open blue sky

Look up.
Stay a little.

A small sky journal

The sky is always changing.
That is reason enough to look again.

Find the edge.

Follow the bright rim of a cloud. Notice where it stops being a shape and starts becoming the sky around it.

A shape can be
many things.

The rounded upper edge of a cloud
A soft tower
What do you see?

A tower, a face, a hill. Let one shape carry more than one idea.

A small separate cloud beside the larger form
A little island
Where does it begin?

Look for the thin patch of blue that separates one form from another.

The diffuse lower edge of the cloud
An open edge
Where does it disappear?

Some boundaries are clear. Others soften until the sky takes over.

Follow the
quiet gap.

Sometimes the most interesting shape
is the blue space between.

Look once,
then look again.

First, find one small detail without naming it.

Then look away. When you return, notice what your eye chooses next.

Write what you noticed

A small
sky vocabulary.

Edge
Where one shape meets the space around it.
Gap
A little room for the blue to show through.
Drift
A change so small you almost miss it.
